Sporty youngsters get a boost thanks to footy kit funding
Budding young footballers now have the chance to improve their skills on the pitch thanks to sponsorship of a new junior football team by a local business.
Rob Paul Studios, a Havant based photographers, is providing the kit for a new under six football team organised by Purbrook Athletic.
A Sunday league for six-16 year are already in place and following interest from parents and younger children, a team has been set up for children aged five and six.
The team which was put together in May 2009 meets every Thursday evening and on Sundays at Warren Park School which 11 children take part.
Kenny Parkes, manager at Purbrook Athletic said, “We are delighted that this new starter team has been so popular and it’s great that so many young children are keen footballers.
“Having the kit sponsored by Rob Paul Studios has been a fantastic step forward as securing sponsorship for this age range can be hard. Being part of a football team is extremely important for children as it teaches them discipline, team skills and gamesmanship from an early age,” added Kenny.
Paul Burrows, Director at the East Street studios, met many of the parents and children who take part in the Purbrook Athletic team during visits to his studios for family photographs.
“The idea for sponsoring the kit came about through chatting to customers and hearing about how important the football team was to their children,” said Paul.
“I wanted to give the new younger players a real boost by having a proper kit. Providing sponsorship seemed an ideal way to ensure the children felt part of a team and to give something back to the community,” he added.
Rob Paul Studios also sponsors a charity called Hannah’s Smiles, which provides holidays for families whose children suffer from debilitating diseases. The business gives 50 per cent of any booking fee and 10 per cent of sales from any customer that quotes ‘Hannah's Smiles’.
